Anxiety in the modern world.
Feelings of anxiety are a natural response to feeling under threat. Our ancestors needed this response to evade predators; however modern society provides a different type of stress. Many of us are familiar with the feelings of dry mouth, sweaty palms and racing heart before giving a presentation. A degree of stress can improve our performance in such instances. But what when the feelings of stress and anxiety become pervasive and start to limit our options? Instead of enhancing our performance they can restrict us and leave us vulnerable to other health problems.
